Nominate a Journal Article Author for the IRA Albert J. Harris Award

September 1, 2012, is the deadline to nominate yourself or others for the 2013 International Reading Association Albert J. Harris Award.

The IRA Albert J. Harris Award is given for a recently published journal article or monograph that makes an outstanding contribution to our understanding of prevention or assessment of reading or learning disabilities. The annual monetary award is $500 for one winning manuscript.

The competition is open for publications that have appeared in a refereed professional journal between January 2011 and December 2011. Publications may be submitted by the author or anyone else. Eligible works include reports of empirical studies that involve the collection of original data and/or articles that develop theory or synthesize knowledge.

The author(s) of the selected work will receive recognition during IRA’s 58th Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas, on April 19-22, 2013. 

The 2012 IRA Albert J. Harris Award was given to Richard L. Allington, Anne McGill-Franzen, Gregory Camilli, Lunetta Williams, Jennifer Graff, Jacqueline Zeig, Courtney Zmach, and Rhonda Nowak for their article "Addressing Summer Reading Setback Among Economically Disadvantaged Elementary Students" Published in Reading Psychology in 2010, Volume 31.
