Here are all the quick and easy ways to join ILA:

• Join online.

• Email ILA Customer Service at customerservice@reading.org.
• Mail in your printed form with payment.

If you join ILA online or by phone, your membership will become active immediately. If you mail your application, you will receive a confirmation email once it's processed.

An ILA membership is good for one year from the time the application is processed. You can also lock in your current rate by joining or renewing for two years or receive a 10% discount by joining or renewing for three years.

You can view your membership status by signing in to your account online. You will see a summary of your membership and journal selections on your My Account & Profile page.

If you need a receipt of dues paid or an official receipt (other than the confirmation that was emailed at the time of your order), please contact ILA Customer Service. They can easily mail or email a receipt per your request.

Your member number is available on your My ILA Resources page (which you can access after signing in to your account online) and appears on your membership card that you can access by clicking My Membership Card and Certificate. You can also contact ILA Customer Service to request your member number.

No, sorry, we are not able to accept state/provincial or local chapter dues. However, we urge you to a join your state/provincial or local chapter to enhance your ILA membership experience with networking, leadership, and volunteer opportunities at the grassroots level. If you are unsatisfied with your membership but wish to remain a member of ILA, please reach out to us! We want to hear from you and work with you to make your ILA membership experience a positive one. However, if you no longer wish to be a member of ILA, we will cancel your membership upon request. No refunds will be offered for canceled memberships or subscriptions. Please contact ILA Customer Service with any questions.

ILA membership is based on each unique individual and is not transferrable from one member to another.

ILA’s three peer-reviewed journals have transitioned to online publications.

We have seen a dramatic uptick in the number of ILA subscribers accessing their journals online, which mirrors industry trends. Plus, the majority of institutions are no longer purchasing traditional, title-by-title subscriptions and instead are investing in licenses that provide access to multiple titles all at once. You will continue to see more and more journals retiring print in favor of digital for these reasons.

Journal articles are released online as soon as they are finalized; these “early view” pieces are often available earlier than they would appear in print.

Content is not only portable but also accessible from anywhere.

Digital publications can be expanded to include dynamic and interactive content that is impossible in print, such as videos, audio clips, and links to other resources.

Print subscriptions are no longer available. All ILA journals are available as online publications.

If you have a current print subscription, it will automatically shift to online. There’s no further action needed on your part.

The November/December 2021 issues of The Reading Teacher and Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy were the last print issues subscribers received. For subscribers of Reading Research Quarterly, the last print issue was October/November/December 2021.

Yes. Your subscription was updated automatically and the difference in cost was credited to your account. This required no action on your part. The credit can be used toward a future membership renewal or journal subscription.

Credits were issued December 2021. Please contact ILA Customer Service with any questions.

If you have an Online Plus membership, it was automatically converted to an Online membership. There’s no price difference in this membership change and your expiration date will remain the same. If you have another type of ILA membership, your membership will not change.

If you have a subscription to The Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, and/or Reading Research Quarterly, you can access your journal(s) on this website. Simply sign in and click My ILA Resources, then My Journals, then scroll down to the Read My Journal link for each of your subscriptions. For detailed instructions on how to access your journals online, follow these step-by-step instructions (mobile users click here).

Please note that while you will be signing in on the ILA website, the ILA Journals Hub, which is hosted by Wiley Online Library, houses the online editions of ILA's journals.

The Reading Teacher and the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy are published online six times a year: July/August, September/October, November/December, January/February, March/April, and May/June. Reading Research Quarterly is published online four times a year: January/February/March, April/May/June, July/August/September, and October/November/December. Literacy Today is published online four times a year: July/August/September, October/November/December, January/February/March, and April/May/June.

Yes, you can subscribe to ILA journals without an ILA membership. For the best rates, join ILA before you subscribe.

To add, change, or cancel a journal subscription during your membership term, please contact ILA Customer Service.

If you would like to change your journal selection at the time you renew, please indicate this change during the online renewal process or on your printed membership renewal form

ILA members automatically receive reduced-price registration for select events and a discount on all books published by ILA. As soon as you sign in to our website as a member, you will receive the member discount on all applicable items you add to your shopping cart.

If you join ILA while you are ordering items, your membership will be added to your shopping cart. As long as a membership purchase is in your cart, the member discount will be applied to all other applicable items you purchase during your visit. To check the status of an order, please contact ILA Customer Service.

1. All books returned for refund or credit must be in saleable condition, with no tearing, stamps, stickers, marks, etc.
2. For orders placed by individuals, all returns must be made within 30 days of the order processing date. For bookstores and other institutions, book returns will be accepted up to six months from the purchase date.
3. In order to ensure timely refunds, all returned items must be accompanied by a completed return form, a packing slip stating the quantity and titles of returned books, and the original order or invoice number. Please also indicate whether you prefer credit to your account or a refund.
4. All refunds will be processed as soon as possible. ILA reserves the right to require the sender to produce proof of delivery.
5. The sender will be contacted if items are returned in unsaleable condition.
6. Specially priced sale books are not returnable.
7. All PDF product purchases are final, and no returns or exchanges will be permitted.
