The International Reading Association is seeking professionals interested in reviewing reading programs submitted to the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). All programs are reviewed online. There are many benefits to program review including building or enhancing your own program by incorporating ideas from other outstanding programs. This is a tremendous professional service. Anyone interested in becoming a program reviewer must complete the application process and attend an IRA workshop. There are two upcoming workshops: Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers (ALER) Conference, Saturday, November 5, 2011, in Richmond, Virginia and IRA Annual Convention, Sunday, April 29, 2012, in Chicago. Application materials can be found on the IRA website at /Resources/ProfessionalDevelopment/Accreditation.aspx or contact Diane Kern at dkern@/ for more details. To register for the ALER Conference in November, go to www.aleronline.org.
