  • Investigative journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones will moderate a Current Events Panel titled "Disrupting a Destructive Cycle: How Literacy Drives Social Change Both in and out of the Classroom." This panel will address provocative and complex social issues such as racially motivated violence and cultural intolerance.
  • ILA Lunches: This year, we're shaking up our lunch events and bringing you three new, fresh formats: ILA Meet & Eat Networking Lunch, where you'll dine and mingle with other conference attendees; ILA Sparks Lunch, where you'll hear short, power-packed talks from inspiring speakers; and ILA Power Hour Lunch, where interactive activities will help you step out of your comfort zone.
  • The theme of ILA 2017 is Literacy Reimagined. Throughout the conference, we'll focus on the ever-evolving definition of literacy and how it impacts instruction across the disciplines. By examining the latest research and trends in the classroom, you'll learn how to bring literacy to your practice in unexpected ways and leave with the resources you need to disrupt the status quo.
