Research Intensive
Sunday, October 18, 7:30 AM–12:30 PM
NEW FOR 2020! The Research Intensive invites literacy professionals to revisit seminal works and landmark studies on what makes for high-quality, effective instruction for all students and draw on that evidence base to envision the future of literacy research.
Where should we focus our efforts in the next decade? What gaps in the existing research require the most urgent attention? Which questions haven't yet been asked—and who will we look to for answers?
The day begins with the Bridging Research & Practice Breakfast, featuring an interactive panel discussion on the state of reading research and a keynote from Nell K. Duke, recipient of the 2018 William S. Gray Citation of Merit.
Attendees then select from breakout sessions organized around topics such as
- Early literacy instruction
- Foundational skills
- Independent reading
- Writing
- And more!
These in-depth, action-oriented workshops will be led by teams of noted and emerging scholars and practitioners and fueled by attendee participation.
The Research Intensive culminates with an exclusive networking opportunity to continue these critical conversations with colleagues and speakers alike.
Seating is extremely limited; register early to save your spot at this can't-miss event.
Please note: The Research Intensive requires separate paid registration and is not included with Institute Day, Core Conference, or the Children's Literature Intensive. Presenters, times, and topics are subject to change.
