Call for Editors: The Reading Teacher
The Reading Teacher (RT) is the leading peer-reviewed journal for educators of literacy learners up to age 12. RT’s special emphasis is on primary and elementary classroom instruction, and its readership consists of school-based educators, university researchers and scholars, literacy consultants, administrators, and policymakers.
Through May 25, 2026, the International Literacy Association (ILA) is accepting applications for editorship of RT.
About the editorship
ILA is seeking forward-thinking scholars who are committed to the advancement of sound literacy research and its application to classroom instruction. Applicants have the option of applying as teams of up to 10 people; for teams of three or more individuals, one person must be identified as the senior editor with final decisional authority.
Editors serve for a term of four years, the first of which overlaps with the current editors’ term. The subsequent three years are spent adjudicating and providing material.

Qualified applicants must be recognized experts in the field of literacy education of learners in this age group and in professional development of pre- and inservice teachers.
