As students engage in meaningful interdisciplinary literacy invitations across this unit, they develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural resources in their community, human-environmental relationships, and the impact daily decisions have on their community resources. Students have plentiful opportunities to read and respond to a variety of text genres, including print and digital materials. With teacher-guided minilessons, students demonstrate academic understanding as the unit builds; leading to a culminating project entitled "I Can Make a Difference."
