NETWORK SPOTLIGHT

Share with the ILA Network the great work the chapter affiliate is accomplishing. Many of the affiliates have had to change their conferences and programs dues to COVID-19. Let's share innovations to learn from each other. Send your information to chapters@reading.org.

AUA SPOTLIGHT
Dr. Katia Ciampa, President of Widener University's Alpha Psi Chapter, Assistant Professor, and Graduate Literacy Program Director, alongside Dr. Dana Reisboard, Chapter Advisor and Associate Professor of Literacy Education, organized a digital literacy conference entitled "Teaching Literacy during Turbulent Times" on August 19, 2020. The conference inducted 10 new members into the Alpha Psi Chapter (see below) and included nine virtual breakout sessions. Three hundred attendees learned about various strategies for teaching and assessing literacy in a virtual format. Attendees noted that the sessions "provided a variety of topics, from phonics to reading…ALL important components of balanced literacy," "I loved hearing how other teachers are using technology to have their students collaborate virtually during this time of online instruction," "Made me feel more prepared for this upcoming virtual school year," and "Provided suggestions on how to interact and connect with students and families virtually.
