Submissions

We are always looking for articles that reflect current trends in literacy instruction and provide easy-to-implement tips for today's educators. We encourage you to email literacytoday@reading.org with questions about guidelines or to submit a pitch. If you are submitting an article for consideration, please keep in mind that 950 words is our maximum word count and that we do not use in-text citations. However, sidebars with recommended further reading are permitted.

October/November/December 2024: August 1
January/February/March 2025: November 1
April/May/June 2025: February 3

Member news

ILA members can submit career news (books published, awards received, promotions/retirements, etc.) for consideration in Literacy Today's News & Notes section. Contact information and links to background information, if applicable, should be included for verification. Submissions, which must be 200 words or less, may be edited for clarity or length, and ILA reserves the right to all final editorial decisions. Send submissions either in Word or copied into the email, with separate photo attachments, to literacytoday@reading.org with the subject line "News & Notes."
