The Steps to Race in America

What's Inside

This unit includes collaboration between science and social science. The authors demonstrate how collaboration allows students to interrogate difficult content to support high-level analysis and synthesis. Students are provided with a scaffolded instructional environment where they learn to analyze, synthesize, and construct a thesis based on evidence. Students use resources to develop competence with critically analyzing and discussing varying viewpoints. Finally, students will make a supported assertion regarding a social construct and how race is evinced within those ideals.
